By strengthening partnerships between community-based organizations, hospitals and health systems, local health departments, and others, BUILD is cultivating a shared commitment to moving resources, attention, and action upstream to drive sustainable improvements in community health.
To date, the BUILD Health Challenge has supported 37 projects in 21 states and Washington, DC.
The 19 communities currently working on BUILD initiatives (BUILD 2.0) are located across the country and have the potential to dramatically affect the health and wellness of their communities.
The initial cohort of BUILD initiatives (BUILD 1.0), launched in 2015, and included 18 community partnerships. Already those efforts have yielded highly promising approaches such as home remodeling to improve indoor air quality and control childhood asthma; leveraging data to better understand patient needs and behaviors beyond the clinical setting to promote healthy lifestyles; reimagining food supply and distribution channels to address food insecurity; and more. Check out this infographic highlighting insights and learnings from the first cohort.
