BUILD is excited to welcome Miya Walker to the BUILD team as a summer intern.
Miya is currently a student at the University of Maryland and is pursuing a Masters of Public Health with a concentration in Health Equity. In previous roles at nonprofit organizations, Miya has done research with historically disadvantaged populations. These experiences mirror her dedication to building long-term partnerships and sustaining healthy relationships. As a Queer Black Woman, Miya hopes this opportunity will serve as a way to increase equity in populations who share similar identities.
In her role with BUILD, Miya will gain hands-on experience with grants and policies that center equity. She will develop research and perform data analysis that advance BUILD’s efforts around upstream policy change and an equitable application process. Miya is excited to build skills and knowledge that will propel her into a future where will effectively address inequities in other communities.
