In 2015, the BUILD Health Challenge (BUILD) launched a nationwide effort to advance multi-sector partnerships—with bold, upstream, integrated, local, and data-driven approaches—in order to drive sustainable improvements in community health. More than 200 community partnerships applied with the goal of tackling the underlying social, physical, and economic factors affecting health in their community. BUILD ultimately selected 18 awardees focused on a wide variety of upstream issue areas, including: affordable housing, public safety, violence, and early childhood development.

Over the last two years, BUILD has helped to advance each site’s efforts by providing funding, technical assistance, communications support, and access to this new peer learning network. The results of this collective effort have shown great promise and are bringing us closer to our goal of improving health and reducing health disparities. This infographic features an overview of insights learned from our first cohort and results from several of the projects.
