Over a decade ago, a small group of national and regional funders came together to launch The BUILD Health Challenge® (BUILD), leveraging their knowledge and resources with the aim of improving health nationwide. Since then, 68 partnerships across the country have implemented the BUILD model.

The initiative has remained faithful to the anchoring model, a set of core principles articulated in the name B-U-I-L-D: Bold, Upstream, Integrated, Local, Data-driven. At the same time, BUILD has learned more about how to effectively invest in and support these local initiatives, refining our approach with each new cohort of communities through ongoing learning and practice evolution.

In our new brief, learn more about how BUILD’s partnership with local practitioners has evolved over ten years, and read about the best practices, trends in the field, and considerations for the future that we’ve explored along the way.

These learnings were produced for BUILD by our long-time evaluation partners at Equal Measure.

We are grateful for their collaboration and knowledge.

In honor of BUILD’s tenth anniversary, explore more learnings, stories, and impact from ten years of building together.
